Judge Cancels Child Molester's Scheduled Release

An Indiana judge has rescinded an order to release a convicted child molester from prison this week, meaning he'll remain incarcerated for at least three more months.
Judge Tanya Walton Pratt November 25 decided an order to release George Vance, 71, had been made erroneously, a prosecutor told WRTV.
Deputy prosecutor Cynthia Ridgeway said Pratt rescinded the release order after 'having learned the information, learned who this particular defendant was.'
Vance was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to molesting two girls. He has served about eight months of that sentence.
News that Vance was to be released prompted a group of people to send more than two dozen letters to the judge, asking her to reconsider.
'This means he serves the time he was supposed to get,' said Jeri Roband, the mother of on of Vance's victims. 'He doesn't get out early. He doesn't get special treatment.'
The group of letter writers included the victims' parents and three women who accuse Vance of molesting them several years ago. Vance hasn't been convicted on those accusations.
'After 33 years, finally I can put the whole idea of trying to get George Vance to be responsible for his actions behind me,' alleged victim Rebecca Long said.
Vance still could be released as early as Feb. 28 for good behavior.
