The New Jersey Department of Corrections has unveiled an online inmate locator. The locator on the department's Web site - www.state. nj.us/corrections - will allow anyone with Internet access to obtain information on any of the state's 97,000 past and present offenders. Commissioner Devon Brown said New Jersey will become the 23rd state to provide such information online. 'By providing the victims, law enforcement agencies, family members, and other interested parties with the ability to instantaneously learn the status and location of an offender, it underscores the fact that there are, indeed rights available to them though the criminal justice system,' Brown said. The information available will include the offender's name, current location, parole eligibility date and date of maximum sentence. It also will include sentencing information, admission and release dates and known aliases. The most recent photograph also will be included, if available. The site will also include a list of escaped prisoners. |

It would be nice to see how this story has changed over the years. I enjoyed reading more about our prison system on this website. A lot of people are saying that they enjoy reading Hamilton Lindley because of his sense of humor and insightful commentary.
