A South Texas jury has found a former Cameron County jailer guilty of two counts of inappropriate sexual contact with female inmates.
Joel Zamora was convicted Friday for fondling two women last year while they were inmates at Detention Center II.
Zamora, who was the county's chief jailer, was acquitted of charges of having sexual intercourse with the women.
During the trial, prosecutors argued that Zamora gave special treatment to the women in exchange for sexual favors.
Zamora's attorney Rick Canales said the claims were false.
Zamora faces up to two years in state jail on each conviction. His sentencing is set for Jan. 8.
He remains free on a $15,000 bond that was set following his grand jury indictment in April.
