| South Carolina Jail Escapee Nabbed in Texas |

A man who escaped from a South Carolina jail last week has been captured in Houston. Steven Lewis Brown, 43, of Chapin, S.C., escaped from the Newberry County jail about 7 p.m. Nov. 28, Sheriff Lee Foster said. Brown had been picked up on charges of burglary and larceny. Brown was accused of breaking into a home and stealing a gun, spokesman Todd Johnson said. Officers got a tip that Brown might be an at acquaintance's home in Houston, Foster said. Houston police found Brown outside the home sitting in a car he is accused of stealing after he escaped. Three other burglary charges and an escape charge have been filed against Brown, Johnson said. |
