| Wisconsin Prison Escapee Captured On West Coast |

Authorities say the man who escaped from the Waupun prison more than eight weeks ago is in custody in Los Angeles. State corrections spokesman Dale Jellings says Tom Deering was picked up in Los Angeles on possible auto theft charges. Jellings says U-S marshals notified the state today that fingerprints confirmed Deering's identity. Deering escaped from Waupun October fourth. Prison officials say he slipped into the back of a delivery truck in a loading dock area. He was serving a 60-year sentence for sexual assault, kidnapping and burglary. Jellings says Deering's escape was the first from Waupun in 22 years. It's not yet known when Deering will be transported back to Wisconsin. |
