| Conn. Inmate Slashes Cellmate with Razor, Agency Says |

An inmate at the Cheshire Correctional Institution attacked his cellmate Tuesday afternoon with a razor blade and cut his face, the Department of Correction said. The housing unit containing the cell was locked down and remained that way early Tuesday evening, department spokesman Brian Garnett said. The inmate who was attacked was taken to the University of Connecticut Health Center and received stitches for the cuts on his face. The inmate who attacked him was put in restricted housing. State police were expected to charge him with second-degree assault, Garnett said. |
