An Oklahoma inmate picking up trash found a pipe bomb near an intersection. The galvanized metal device contained powder, wadding and a fuse, said Bob Jameson, spokesman for Oklahoma's Jackie Brannon Correctional Center. Authorities put the device in a state vehicle, then the Oklahoma Highway Patrol bomb squad removed it with a robot. 'The fuse had been lit and had burned down, but it didn't go off,' Jameson said. The bomb squad took the device to a firing range where it was 'rendered inoperative,' he said. |
