An inmate is dead and three others were injured in a fight inside the Saint Clair Correctional Facility. Corrections officials say the fight occurred about noon Thursday. Spokesman Brian Corbett says James Earl Moore, a 52-year-old inmate from Madison County, was attacked by another inmate in the prison's vehicle restoration shop. Moore was serving a life sentence without parole for robbery, burglary, rape and theft of property. Moore was taken to a Birmingham hospital with head injuries and died at 3:18 p.m. Thursday. Corbett could not say what weapon was used. Two other inmates and a state prison employee had minor injuries. A 43-year-old inmate from Macon County, already serving a life term for murder and kidnapping, is being investigated in connection with the slaying. His name is not yet available. |
