Leon Anger, 18, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced last week to four months to three years in state prison for participating in a riot Sept. 3 at his East Allen Township juvenile facility, Weaversville Intensive Treatment Unit. Anger, along with four other boys, Leonard Johnson, 17, Jesse Wagoner, 17, both of York County, Andrew Oswald, 16, of Bucks County, and Ryas Thompson, of Delaware County, threw items around the center and destroyed surveillance cameras and windows, causing $917 worth of damage, according to documents. Staff members were forced to lock themselves in the main office for their protection until Pennsylvania State Police arrived. Anger, Johnson and Wagoner were also charged as adults with riot and institutional vandalism, but Anger is the first to plead guilty. Court records do not say whether Oswald will be tried as an adult and Thompson's case is being handled through the Delaware County juvenile system. Weaversville Intensive Treatment Unit is a 23-bed facility for court-adjudicated delinquent young men. |
