The authorities in Orange County, N.Y., are investigating the death of a female inmate at the county jail in an apparent heroin overdose, officials at the jail said last week. The inmate, Kathleen Anne Brennan, 26, of Washingtonville, near Newburgh, was found dead in her cell last Wednesday morning, jail officials said. She was serving a sentence on a larceny charge. Officials said investigators were conducting an autopsy and studying toxicology reports to determine if Ms. Brennan died of an overdose. Several other inmates at the jail, in Goshen, which is roughly 50 miles from New York City, were rushed to the hospital last week after showing signs of heroin use, officials said. |
