Four Hinds County, Miss. sheriff's deputies have been fired for smuggling everything from food to drugs to Hinds County Jail inmates -- including one very high-profile prisoner. Sheriff Malcolm McMillin confirmed that deputies smuggled a cell phone into the prison and to Albert Donelson, and inmate also known as "Batman." The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics believes Donelson used the cell phone to order a murder from his jail cell. Their investigation found that four supervising deputies smuggled marijuana, cigarettes, food, cell phones and even women into the jail. Sheriff Malcolm McMillin said the women performed sexual acts on the inmates. He said inmates paid the deputies with sexual and other favors, as well as with money. "They didn't use a receipt book, they have a charge card," McMillin said. "I don't know how much was paid, but I do know I have sufficient evidence to fire them." Donelson was transferred to a federal prison in Louisiana. His mother said she doesn't believe the cell-phone murder allegation, and she blames MBN director Frank Melton, saying he has a vendetta against her son and wants to keep slandering his name. Melton said his investigation into Donelson's alleged "Wood Street Playas" gang is far from over. |
