| Man Arrested in Slaying of N.M. Prison Officer |

An Albuquerque man is accused of fatally shooting a Penitentiary of New Mexico officer. Authorities say 66-year-old John Garcia is charged with an open count of murder and aggravated battery. He was arrested March 14 at his home and taken to the Santa Fe County jail. Pam Poe, 31, was found dead the morning of March 6th in her home south of Santa Fe. Santa Fe County sheriff's detectives say Poe recently had ended a romantic relationship with Garcia. Court records say Poe and Garcia were married to other people. |
