| Five Calif. Residents Jailed for Allegedly Soliciting Others to Commit Murder |

Four Glendale men and a juvenile were arrested after authorities said they uncovered an organized crime ring that solicited others to commit murder for insurance purposes. The men and juvenile were believed to have conspired to kill as many as eight people, even soliciting a Los Angeles County jail inmate to kill two men who recently were arrested, police said Wednesday. Authorities didn't say if any attacks were actually carried out. The four adults were identified as Edvard Gyulnazaryan, 40; Gagik Galoyan, 53; Gayk Tadevosyan, 38; and Andranik Safaryan, 24. They were jailed in lieu of bail that ranged from $9.5 million for Gyulnazaryan to $3.5 million for Galoyan and Tadevosyan, to $2 million for Safaryan, Sgt. Kirk Palmer said in a statement issued by Glendale police. It couldn't immediately be determined if they had retained lawyers, and Palmer did not return calls for comment. He said in the statement that police were seeking a sixth person, whose name was not released. The four adults were scheduled to be arraigned April 3 in Burbank Superior Court. No information on the juvenile was released. The five were arrested last Thursday, Palmer said, culminating a two-year investigation that involved the Glendale Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, FBI and National Insurance Crime Bureau. |
