| Ohio Man Accused Of Fleeing Florida Prison 16 Years Ago |

A man accused of escaping from a Florida prison 16 years ago was arrested at his home April 2, and might face charges in a dormant child sex abuse case, the sheriff said. Ronald Fisher, 63, has been living under the name 'Ronald Tisher' for several years and moving between two homes five miles apart in Richmondale and Londonderry, Ohio, Ross County Sheriff Ron Nichols said. He also has used the name 'Paul Fisher.' Fisher cooperated but did not speak when deputies approached him as he sat on his back porch and explained the warrant for testing his identity, Nichols said. 'The fingerprints came back positive identifying Ron Tisher as Ronald Fisher, fugitive from justice,' he said. A court hearing was scheduled for April 3 in Ross County. Fisher escaped from the Lake County Correctional Institution in Clairmont, Fla., on Aug. 6, 1987, while serving a life term for sexual battery and rape. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation received a tip that Fisher was living under the name 'Tisher' in the Richmond Dale area, about 50 miles south of Columbus, Nichols said. Nichols also plans to reopen a 2000 case in which Fisher's granddaughters accused him of sexually abusing them. The girls live in Carter County, Ky. Deputies couldn't find Fisher at the time because of the alias, Nichols said. |
