A former Sullivan County (Tenn.) jail inmate is suing over a haircut he claims jailer gave him against his will. Dennis Ray Privette filed a federal lawsuit in Greenville last week. Among other claims are that he suffered tremendous pain and loss of pride, saying jail employees held him down and cut his hair with tin snips last May. Privette was serving time for a fourth offense of DUI and violating a habitual traffic offender order by riding an all-terrain vehicle on a public road and not wearing a helmet. He names the county, the jail, the sheriff and jail employees as defendants. The sheriff's department referred questions to County Attorney Dan Street, who said he knew little about the lawsuit and declined to comment. |
