A union representing officers at the Lima Correctional Institution dropped its lawsuit May 15 fighting the state's plan to close the prison -- one day after agreeing to arbitration with the state. The Ohio Civil Service Employees Association dropped the suit because of concerns about an expected Ohio Supreme Court ruling on it, union spokesman Peter Wray said. The union had learned that the court was prepared to rule against it ``at any moment,'' Executive Director Irwin Charfeld said in a statement. The union would not identify its sources, Wray said. |
