A Colorado inmate's wife has been accused of planting tobacco and other prohibited substances at work sites for inmates to pick up and take to the prison. Teri Fields, 52, a convicted felon, faces charges of conspiracy and introducing contraband, according to an arrest affidavit. Her husband, Randall, is serving a sentence at the Trinidad Correctional Facility for theft. Prison officers caught on to the Fields' scheme, photographed some of the drop-offs and pick-ups and confronted Teri Fields with the pictures, the affidavit says. She admitted to the allegations and implicated others, authorities said. Prison warden Irving Jaquez said the inmate work program will be more closely monitored. |
