Colo. Prison Cleared After Tuberculosis Investigation
By Associated Press
Published: 07/10/2003

State health officials have cleared a Delta, Colorado, prison after an investigation prompted when three inmates tested positive for tuberculosis.
In April, the Corrections Department began working with the state Department of Public Health and Environment and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Protection to test all inmates, staff and volunteers at the Delta Correctional Center.
During the testing, 23 inmates and two staff members tested positive for the disease. Operations continued as normal, but all inmate movement in and out of the prison was restricted.
Results of the testing suggest that no people at the center pose a health risk, and there is no need to continue the restriction, said state medical officer Dr. Ned Calonge.
