A 29-year-old inmate has been sentenced in Cayuga County Court to five more years in state prison for assaulting an officer last year.
Curtis Woodruff, incarcerated since 1998 for second-degree murder and weapon possession in Queens, hurt three officers Dec. 14 at Auburn Correctional Facility, according to authorities. The maximum-security prison houses almost 1,800 inmates in Auburn, 25 miles west of Syracuse.
Now at Southport Correctional Facility, Woodruff's original sentence was 20 years to life in prison, according to the state Department of Correctional Services. Before the assault conviction, his earliest parole hearing was slated for 2015, the Auburn Citizen reported.
