A former Ascension Parish prison officer faces a sentence of between five and 40 years for raping a female inmate in 2001. John G. Jackson, 36, of Baton Rouge, was found guilty of one count of forcible rape, District Attorney Tony Falterman said Friday. Jackson was accused of stopping in a remote sugar cane field and raping the woman while transporting her from the Gonzales jail to the parish prison. Investigators arrested Jackson in March 2001. He had worked for the sheriff's office since July 1, 1999. |
