Authorities seek inmate who left work detail

Law enforcement authorities are looking for an escaped prisoner from the Western Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron, Mo. James Jones, 31, walked away from an assigned work detail at about 4:05 p.m. Monday with the Missouri Department of Transportation in Kansas City, said Tim Kniest, a spokesman for the corrections department. Mr. Jones was serving time for four driving-while-intoxicated convictions from Clay, Jackson and Platte counties, Mr. Kniest said.He had been scheduled for release from the medium-security prison in February 2005, the spokesman said. The Kansas City Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are looking for the white male who stands 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. Mr. Jones has brown hair and brown eyes. A squad of corrections officers from the Cameron prison was dispatched to Kansas City to assist in the investigation, Mr. Kniest said.
