| Authorities seek inmate who left work detail |

Law enforcement authorities are looking for an escaped prisoner from the Western Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron, Mo. James Jones, 31, walked away from an assigned work detail at about 4:05 p.m. Monday with the Missouri Department of Transportation in Kansas City, said Tim Kniest, a spokesman for the corrections department. Mr. Jones was serving time for four driving-while-intoxicated convictions from Clay, Jackson and Platte counties, Mr. Kniest said.He had been scheduled for release from the medium-security prison in February 2005, the spokesman said. The Kansas City Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are looking for the white male who stands 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. Mr. Jones has brown hair and brown eyes. A squad of corrections officers from the Cameron prison was dispatched to Kansas City to assist in the investigation, Mr. Kniest said. |
