Inmate with prosthetic leg accused of assaulting prison workers

An inmate whose prosthetic leg fell off during an altercation with prison workers remains jailed after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing.
Bruce Lee Hawk, 33, was ordered Wednesday to stand trial on charges of simple assault, aggravated assault and resisting arrest. The charges stem from a June 24 incident at Carbon County, Pa., Prison, where he is an inmate.
Police say Hawk, angry that prison workers would not serve him a late breakfast, upended a serving cart and struggled with six workers.
After he was returned to his cell, police said, Hawk wrapped a T-shirt around his neck in what workers believed was a suicide attempt.
Hawk allegedly punched a deputy warden who tried to take away the shirt and kicked other workers. His prosthetic leg fell off as staff members tried to subdue him.
Hawk, who was put on suicide watch after the incident, was ordered held on $100,000 bail.
