Inmate shot in the leg after escape

A Lakeland, Ga. police officer is being investigated following the shooting of an escaped inmate from a minimum-security facility.

Michael Palmer, 19, of Adel, escaped from the Robert L. Patten Detention Center at about 8 p.m. Thursday, according to Georgia Bureau of Investigations Agent John Heinen.

Following an intensive manhunt, Palmer was spotted by Capt. John Harris of the Lakeland Police Department on Mack Lane at about 10:45 p.m.
