Prison Escapee's Girlfriend Appears In Court

The woman charged with helping her boyfriend escape from the Milwaukee County Jail made her first court appearance Monday morning,
Albertina Jackson and her two children were found on Milwaukee's north side on December 20. They had been on the run since December 6.
That's when deputies said Jackson helped her boyfriend, DeCarlos Young, break out of jail. Young, who was awaiting sentencing on a murder conviction, is still on the loose.
'She's been very uncooperative throughout this whole investigation. It's unknown what Miss Jackson was thinking or doing. She has said a lot of things to us we know to be false, and she has not cooperated with this investigation,' Milwaukee County Sheriff's Capt. Bret Richards said.
Jackson's two children, missing since the escape, were with her when she was arrested. They're safe and staying with relatives.
Her failure to cooperate doesn't bode well for a quick release, WISN 12 News reporter Nick Bohr said.
'I find for somebody to have a lack of criminal record as her, she is very cold and callous regarding this whole complex situation that she's in,' Richards said.
And despite Jackson's arrest, detectives feel no closer to capturing their escaped killer, Young.
'We're exhausting every lead, every tip that comes in. At this time though, we're not getting any closer,' Richards said.
Jackson is being housed at the Waukesha County Jail in a 'safe-keeper' program. Milwaukee County Jail officials said because of the ongoing internal investigation of the escape, they felt it was best to keep her out of town.
Bail for Jackson is set at $100,000. Her next court appearance is Dec. 27.
