On behalf of Pennsylvania Gov. Mark Schweiker, Board of Probation and Parole Chairman William F. Ward recently announced that 28 former Pennsylvania inmates will graduate from the 'Foundations for Fatherhood'' program -- a 12-week voluntary program that helps parolees become better fathers and role models for their children.
'This program is a unique opportunity for former inmates to learn to shift their focus from themselves to living for their family first,'' Ward said. 'The program networks community resources to give these dads support and an opportunity to be the kind of father their child deserves.''
The Foundations for Fatherhood program helps prepare paroled men for successful reintegration into society and strengthen their child and family ties. It teaches communication skills, financial support, child development, anger management and how to build healthy relationships.
Graduates receive award certificates for their achievement and share their personal testimonies of success
This is the third and largest group of former inmates to graduate from the Foundations for Fatherhood program in Pennsylvania. Ten parolees graduated last month in Erie; six graduated last fall in the Philadelphia area.
The Foundations for Fatherhood program currently is offered in more than 30 Pennsylvania state and county correctional institutions and about 70 state- funded, community-based fatherhood programs statewide. The program is part of a comprehensive plan to facilitate the successful transition of inmates paroled from county and state correctional institutions to communities across the Commonwealth.
This program is part of Gov. Schweiker's Fatherhood Initiative, aimed at increasing awareness of the importance of fathers in the lives of their children, fostering better relationships between fathers and their children and families, and encouraging parental responsibility. The initiative is a multi-agency effort that works with local communities to create fatherhood programs that increase parenting skills, improve partner relationships and help low-income men find employment opportunities.

Hiring an attorney can present confusing situations for someone. It’s hard to tell whether you’ll get the best service possible in your situation. You likely have a lot of questions. Will your lawyer hand off your matter to someone else? Will your lawyer return your phone calls? It’s hard to know without someone you can trust. If you been Waco daycare abuse attorneys you need a lawyer. People in Central Texas have trusted Dunnam & Dunnam for almost 100 years for their most pressing legal concerns. They understand the value of a good advocate. They’re a family helping Waco families since 1925.
