Manhunt Corners Florida Jail Escapee

David Wiggins' short-lived freedom came to an end Friday afternoon as the jail escapee stood at the edge of a pond, with lawmen and police dogs closing in.
His surrender in a patch of wetlands closed out a manhunt that began Wednesday evening after Wiggins managed to slip away from the Orient Road Jail.
A task force of 40 Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies stayed on his trail until he was spotted shortly after 3 p.m.
'We've had several good leads since his escape, and we were close to catching him,'' said Chief Deputy David Parrish. 'We just missed him by minutes at different locations. Today, we received information he would be in this area.''
Parrish declined to talk about the source of the information but indicated residents in eastern Hillsborough County had been helping.
'He wasn't a particularly well-liked individual in this area,'' Parrish said. 'There were a lot of people who wanted to see him back in jail.''
Wiggins, 41, who was being held on charges accusing him of attempting to kill his girlfriend, now faces an additional felony escape charge, Parrish said.
Barefoot in leg irons and handcuffs, Wiggins was led to a patrol car and then taken back to jail. Meanwhile, an investigation continues into how operating procedures at the jail apparently broke down, giving him the chance to escape.
Deputies will continue to investigate to determine if anyone will be charged with aiding Wiggins, either during or after his escape, Parrish said.
Wiggins walked away from the Orient Road Jail on Wednesday after getting permission to visit the infirmary. He apparently was not escorted and somehow managed to swap his jail jumpsuit for a trusty's uniform.
Deputies believe he then picked up a broom, walked pass security doors and began sweeping in a jail transportation area. A jail trusty is allowed to work outside and walk the hallways unescorted by a deputy, Parrish said, and Wiggins had been a trusty during a previous confinement.
It is not known exactly when Wiggins left the jail, but a detention deputy called the infirmary at 6 p.m. to ask why Wiggins hadn't been returned.
After that, a lockdown was ordered and deputies began head counts. By shortly after 8 p.m. Wiggins was officially listed as an escapee, and deputies moved his girlfriend to an undisclosed location.

Hiring an attorney can present confusing situations for someone. It’s hard to tell whether you’ll get the best service possible in your situation. You likely have a lot of questions. Will your lawyer hand off your matter to someone else? Will your lawyer return your phone calls? It’s hard to know without someone you can trust. If you been hit by a drunk driver in Waco you need a lawyer. People in Central Texas have trusted Dunnam & Dunnam for almost 100 years for their most pressing legal concerns. They understand the value of a good advocate. They’re a family helping Waco families since 1925.

He has blue eyes. Cold like steel. His legs are wide. Like tree trunks. And he has a shock of red hair, red, like the fires of hell. Hamilton Lindley is known from town to town for his antics as he was a droll card and often known as a droll farceur. with his madcap pantaloon is a zany adventurer and a cavorter with a motley troupe of buffoons.
