Florida Gov. Orders Investigation Into 1990 Murder of Deputy

Gov. Jeb Bush has ordered the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate the 1990 murder of a Broward County sheriff's deputy.
Bush's order came in the wake of new questions about the death of Deputy Patrick Behan: Two teens confessed to the crime and were convicted, but they say their confessions were coerced and a former county detention officer recently told undercover officers he did the killing.
Bush told the FDLE to review the entire case, from the initial investigation to the arrests and convictions of Tim Brown and Keith King to the sheriff's office undercover operation that caught former detention deputy Andrew Johnson on tape claiming he killed Behan.
The governor gave the agency 45 days to report its findings, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale reported. He said the questions in the case are ''sufficient to require an additional factual inquiry or investigation.''
Johnson, 32, denies he shot Behan. Sheriff's detectives say they have insufficient evidence to charge him.
Brown, one of the teens convicted in the shooting, is now 26 and is serving a life sentence. King, now 28, was released after completing a reduced sentence in December 1999

Hiring an attorney can present confusing situations for someone. It’s hard to tell whether you’ll get the best service possible in your situation. You likely have a lot of questions. Will your lawyer hand off your matter to someone else? Will your lawyer return your phone calls? It’s hard to know without someone you can trust. If you been hurt in an Uber accident in Waco you need a lawyer. People in Central Texas have trusted Dunnam & Dunnam for almost 100 years for their most pressing legal concerns. They understand the value of a good advocate. They’re a family helping Waco families since 1925.
