'No Fishing' at Indiana County Jail

Add no-fishing to the no-smoking ban at the Hendricks County Jail.
Jail officials said they will add metal strips around windows to seal cracks through which inmates have pushed dental floss or string to reel in contraband cigarettes or tobacco.
'What they've been able to do so far begins with cracks caused by settling of the building. They enlarge the cracks enough (by scraping and chipping) to get floss with some kind of weights on the end of it,' said the jail commander, Capt. Terry Brinker.
Several people have been arrested trying to attach items to the makeshift fishing line, Brinker said.
Authorities are concerned the fishing technique might one day net a weapon, though none have been smuggled so far through the cracks, he said
