A week after he and another man escaped, a Spartanburg prison inmate was recaptured in Greenville County on Saturday. The other man is still on the loose. Samuel Moody was captured at a house at about 5:30 p.m. July 27 and taken to the Greenville County detention center. Crystal Hendricks, 24, identified as Moody's girlfriend, was also arrested and charged with harboring a fugitive. Moody and Thomas Gary Simmons broke out July 20 from Northside Correctional Institution in Spartanburg. Moody, who was serving a 15-year sentence for burglary, will be returned to Spartanburg to continue serving his sentence and face escape charges. Simmons, who is serving 10 years for armed robbery, is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a medium build and blue eyes. He has tattoos of a heart, the Grim Reaper and the letters 'JT' on his right arm. He also has a tattoo of a Playboy bunny on his right leg, investigators said. Officials said that Simmons is considered armed and dangerous. |
