Senstar-Stellar Life Safety
Our Technology The technology is based on research trials launched in 1990. Through exhaustive testing of how antennas work next to walls, a technology that uses radio transmissions to identify the unique characteristics of concrete and steel within a building, differentiating between inside and outside walls as well as floors in multi-level facilities was perfected. The highly developed technologies resulting from those tests are now the bedrock of Senstar-Stellar Life Safety products.
Our Systems Our two systems, Flare and Flash, are designed to operate in a concrete and metal environment. The systems rely solely on RF technology and thus, signals are never interrupted by building materials, smoke, heavy clothing or human interference. The systems operate on a licensed frequency in the Public Safety band (420 470 MHz) so they are protected from interference from other radio signals now and in the future.
Apart From The Rest... FLARE Personal Emergency Locating System Flare can pinpoint corrections officers, volunteers and other staff wearing a transmitter who are in trouble to within 20 feet, a level of accuracy unmatched by any other product. Flare can also differentiate indoor-to-outdoor and floor-to-floor alarm locations with unparalleled precision. Transmitters, Sensors, Hubs, Interface Units and a Control Computer are the main elements of a Flare system. Transmitters are belt worn and, when activated, send alarm signals to multiple Sensors. The Sensors process the alarm signals and relay the information through the Hubs and Interface Units, to the Control Computer. The control computer then compares the signals to a table of signals created during the commissioning phase. The system identifies the best match and displays the information on the operator's console. This patented system is unmatched in location accuracy, system performance and system redundancy. Committment to Corrections Senstar-Stellar Life Safety's Flash system has become the standard for Canadian federal correctional institutions. Flash is a small, affordable system that, when activated, transmits an instantaneous signal that identifies the transmission device's unique ID number, the name of the device user, or the facility location to which the device is assigned. Flash is used in 46 federal corrections facilities in Canada. Like Flare, Flash's alarm signals are received by multiple Sensors; providing infallible system redundancy. The system consists of all of the same components as Flare, thus can easily be upgrade in all, or sections, of the facility if alarm location information is needed. Most recently Flash has been accepted in a thirteenth Michigan State corrections facility. Acceptance included location identification to within 12.5 feet with a 96% accuracy rate. Floor-to-floor and indoors-to-outdoors accuracy was without fail. Looking Forward Senstar-Stellar Life Safety will continue to be a technology leader in location resolution and simultaneous indoor/outdoor use. In the future, much focus will be on making systems that are easier to install and cheaper to maintain. Technology will be the driver in obtaining these goals, with remote network connectivity playing a key role.
