PCS Awarded the Inmate Telephone Service Contract for State of Montana DOC

Published: 01/03/2006

Los Angeles, California - December 2005: Public Communications Services, Inc. the industry leader in providing inmate phone solutions to the Corrections Industry, is pleased to announce that the State of Montana DOC has chosen the PCS Solution for their inmate calling requirements. The PCS solution, which was installed in less than three weeks, will provide the State of Montana with state-of-the-art call recording and processing equipment; round-the-clock customer service, comprehensive security features and rational calling rates.

The State of Montana Department of Corrections, under their previous inmate phone provider were receiving numerous complaints from inmate families about the high cost of collect phone calls from offenders. Gary Willems, contracts manager for the DOC said, "This provides a fairer and cheaper phone service for inmate families". On average, the price of a 30-minute long-distance call to anywhere in the continental United States will be $8.75, plus applicable taxes. This rate is significantly lower that the $31.54 cost under the old system.

PCS' state-wide, easy to use inmate telephone solution for the DOC replaces an outdated tape system for recording inmate calls with a digital system, and permits officials to block calls to certain phone numbers. Willems said the latter feature is an important safety feature, particularly for crime victims. The phone system, which includes all new equipment including phones used by inmates, is provided at no cost to the State.

PCS' General Manager of Inmate Sales says; "PCS appreciates the opportunity to provide inmate telephone services to the State of Montana DOC. We acknowledge that while it was a challenge to meet the compressed transition and installation timelines, we were was able to do so because of the total support and cooperation provided by Gary Willems, contracts manager for the DOC  and his team as well as the dedication PCS employees who have exceeded customer expectations.
